"Frequent punishments are always a sign of weakness or laziness on the part of a government." - Jean Jacques Rousseau
We are a concerned group of students a Georgetown University who have compiled this website to raise awareness about drug laws in the United States. Rather than sentence addicts to rehabilitation centers, the current system throws thousands of people in jail where they will have little chance for recovery. In fact, federal laws mandate minimum sentences regardless of case by case circumstances. We want to transform the system from one focused on retributive justice, where the criminal is simply punished for the crime, to restorative justice, where the criminal can be reintegrated into society. Please take the time to educate yourself by reading through some of the articles posted here and comment on the final page - we love feedback! We included a mixture of full articles, summaries of our more extensive research, and our own plan of action to transform the situation. Links to all photo, video, and text sources can be found on the sources page if you want to check into something further. Thanks!
